Watch Judas Priest's Rob Halford React to Old Photos of Himself

Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford had some fun recently explaining some old photos of himself to Revolver

Halford flipped through a book of photos by photographer Ross Halfin, most of which depicted the Metal God at the height of his "Hell-Bent for Leather" stage.

"He's without a doubt one of the best rock photographers out there," Halford said of Halfin. "He just knows when to go *click*. He'd always encourage me, 'Be more flamboyant!' [I'd say] 'I don't want to be flamboyant!' And then I would throw a bitch pose, as I called them."

While looking at a photo of himself, dressed in a leather ensemble with a policeman's hat and a whip, Halford laughed, "He's not gay."

The singer helped define heavy metal's biker image in the '80s, as he subversively appropriated gay culture into his on stage style.

Halford says the photos were dramatic at the time they were initially released, though he concedes that they may look a bit silly now in a post-This Is Spinal Tap world.

"I remember this photo because it was a pretty dramatic entrance," he recalled of one, "a Harley Davidson bursting through some classic, iconic Marshall 100-watt stacks. It was so f---ing Spinal Tap. I'm sure that's where they took that idea from."

If you were afraid someone who refers to himself as a Metal God might be a bit sensitive about the fashion choices of his previous life, you'd be pleasantly surprised to learn Halford has as easy-going of a demeanor as anyone is rock and roll.

Halford and Judas Priest are on tour now in support of the band's latest album, Firepower.

Firepower is Judas Priest's 18th studio album and first-ever to debut at #1 in the United States.
