VIDEO: SpaceX successfully completes another launch and recovers rocket

SpaceX continues to pile on the lauches in what has turned into a far busier summer for Falcon 9 rocket launches than any of us could have expected. The ANASIS-II Mission involved SpaceX carrying a South Korean defense satellite into orbit by launching it into space atop a Falcon 9 rocket. The video above features a countdown timer, full footage of the launch and rocket recovery, and visual indicators along the bottom of the screen showing when various elements of the launch such as MECO (Main Engine Cutoff) will occur. The technology behind all of this is truly incredible!

This mission was the 57th successful landing of a Falcon 9 rocket on one of SpaceX's drone ships. Interestingly, this particular Falcon 9 rocket was the exact one that carried astonauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley into space aboard their Dragon capsule. This mission also marked perhaps the first successful attempt to catch both payload fairing halves via enormous ship-mounted nets! The payload fairing is what you see painted with the South Korean national emblem and typically falls into the ocean, making it more difficult (and expensive) to reuse. Luckily, both ships caught the halves before they made contact with the seawater, saving crews time and future expense refurbishing them.
