Some Members Of Radiohead Will Attend Rock Hall Induction

The members of Radiohead have been collectively ambivalent if not hostile to the idea of being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since before they were even nominated for the accolade.

Front man Thom Yorke announced in January that he would not be participating in the festivities; he will be in Europe where the Philharmonie de Paris is premiering one of his compositions the following week.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony is Friday, March 29, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. At least a few of Yorke's band mates will be present, according to Cleveland.com.

Members of Radiohead have long expressed bewilderment at the very idea of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Guitarists Ed O'Brien and Jonny Greenwood have on separate occasions dubbed the Rock Hall an "American thing" that seems overly self-indulgent for their tastes. Drummer Phil Selway has said he could care less one way or the other.

Two years ago, when Radiohead was first Rock Hall eligible, the band appeared to make a statement days before that year's inductees were revealed when it announced South American tour dates that conflicted with the date of the induction ceremony.

Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood has been most receptive to the Hall of Fame idea, pointing out that the Hall's membership should be proof enough that it's worth the band's time.

Colin once joked to Rolling Stone that he might show up to the band's induction by himself, ready to perform solo bass versions of Radiohead's hits.

The other 2019 Rock Hall inductees are Def Leppard, Stevie Nicks, the Zombies, Janet Jackson, Roxy Music and one of Radiohead's influences, The Cure.
